What it is

The handle is a folded strip of the same paper, glued either inside the mouth of the bag or externally across the top. Internal handles look cleaner; external handles are stronger on a wide bag because the load spreads across the front panel.

Because there is no rope to bunch up, these ship and store flat, which matters when a kitchen keeps thousands under a counter.

There is also a wide-base patisserie version with a deeper footprint, for boxes and cakes that must sit level.
